Comtech Telecommunications Corp. Receives Strategic
Order From U.S. Army for Next-Generation MTS Technology
and Other Engineering and Support
MELVILLE, N.Y., Sep 30, 2009 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX
News Network) -- Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (Nasdaq:CMTL)
announced today that its Maryland-based subsidiary,
Comtech Mobile Datacom Corporation, received orders
totaling $2.5 million under its Movement Tracking System,
or MTS contract, with the U.S. Army. Total orders received
to date against the $605.1 million MTS contract increased
to $548.7 million.
This order, which includes engineering and other
support activities, is a highly strategic breakthrough
for Comtech and calls for an upgrade of the U.S. Army's
MTS system to incorporate our next-generation Adaptive
Multi-user Detection ("AMD") technology products
in support of existing and future MTS program activities.
This order is a significant milestone as MTS joins
Blue Force Tracking as the second major U.S. Army program
to adopt this next-generation technology to support
Army network needs across the globe. Our backward compatible
MTS and BFT next-generation solutions enable a significant
improvement in overall system performance and an increase
in the number of possible concurrent network users.
