Comtech Telecommunications Corp. Receives $2.8 Million Contract
for Quick Deploy Satellite System, Satellite Network Capacity
and Technical Services to Support Republic of Georgia Army Deployment
MELVILLE, N.Y., Aug 30, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) --
Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (NASDAQ:CMTL) announced today
that its Maryland-based subsidiary, Comtech Mobile Datacom Corporation,
received a $2.8 million contract from the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics
Command (CECOM) to support the deployment of the Republic of Georgia
Army in the Middle East.
The foreign military sales (FMS) contract is for the supply of
Comtech's Quick Deploy Satellite System (QDSS), satellite network
bandwidth, training and technical support. QDSS is a portable
briefcase communications platform utilizing components similar
to those used in Comtech's Movement Tracking System (MTS) including
Comtech's Model MT-2011 mobile satellite transceiver, embedded
Global Positioning System (GPS), in-vehicle computers and Comtech's
advanced satellite network infrastructure. These components and
capabilities provide mobile forces with highly reliable on-the-move
communications integrated into a real time battle command situational
awareness and information control system.
