As
the prime contractor for the United States Army’s
Movement Tracking System (MTS), Comtech Mobile
Datacom Corporation (CMDC) is a truly committed
partner with the U.S.. Army. CMDC developed and
delivered today’s MTS technology, a global satellite
communications system that provides the Army with
GPS position location, text messaging, as well
as vehicle and asset tracking capabilities for
logistics vehicles worldwide. MTS is an integral
part of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), deployed
there since 2003, and is now in use in Afghanistan
to assist with Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF).
MTS provides satellite-based data communications
for locating and managing movement of Army assets
and vehicles worldwide.
MTS provides two-way text messaging and position
reporting between mobile and fixed assets. MTS
can operate anywhere in the world enabling over-the-horizon
Communications-on-the-Move (COTM) to vehicles
on the move. MTS incorporates Radio Frequency
Identification (RFID) technology providing mobile
In-Transit Visibility (ITV) enhancing logistics
Command & Control (C2). For example, MTS
allows a dispatcher to determine vehicle locations
and status, as well as communicate directly with
them in near real-time. All messages are encrypted
end-to-end, including sender and recipient addresses
for information security purposes. MTS operates
over a variety of geostationary satellites and
is designed to transition automatically from
one satellite system to another, as required.
MTS is a battlefield proven high performance
solution that helps convoys avoid hazards, roadblocks
and saves lives.
