Product Overview
The Comtech INFLTRATOR is designed for mobile tracking and messaging applications on fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft. The fuselage-mounted antenna is connected to the interior-mounted electronics to provide communi-cations commonality with other users. The result is situational awareness among all users providing more effective operations and avoidance of “friendly fire” incidents.

Key Application
Helicopters flying in Combat Operations have a critical need for locating friendly and hostile forces on their aircraft monitors and in their command and control centers. The transceiver enables the display of these positions for U.S. and coalition air and ground forces in Combat Operations through its integration in the U.S. Army’s Blue Force Tracking (BFT) system. Missions can be planned knowing exactly where the forces are. Messages can be sent to individual assets in near real-time. The link to ground forces and other aircraft enables faster clearance of fires and the ability to get on target quicker. The Army credits the BFT system with saving many lives and significantly reducing the “fog of war”.

The aviation transceiver is one of a number of common satellite transceivers produced by Comtech and used for vehicles, personnel, aviation and marine applications. All operate on a common satellite network and are securely accessible to other mobile users and commanders on the ground.

Sizes begin at 8” x 8” x 5” for a vehicle transceiver with an integrated antenna/ GPS and go down to a 2” x 4” x 0.6” transceiver module for integration in handheld applications. They all offer the same interoperability and functionality powered by CMDC’s satellite and ground network services around the world, 24/7.
